If you want to ensure your hair is healthy and good-looking all the time, you first need to learn how to wash your hair the right way. Once you adopt a proper shampooing method, your hair will be closer to reaching its full potential and you will be a step closer to your goal.
Choosing the right kind of shampoo and conditioner is the essence of a successful hair washing. Most of us use these products on a daily basis but do we really know what is the right way to use them? Here are some easy hair washing tips to have in mind next time you are under the shower.
First, get to know your hair
Knowing your hair type is important if you want to maintain your hair healthy and clean for the long run. Sure, you know if your hair is straight, wavy or curly but there are subtle differences in these categories and by determining them you will be able to choose the best cleansing product for your hair type. For example if you have fine hair, you could choose Phillip Adam ACV Shampoo which performs well on normal to fine hair types. On the other hand, if your hair is dry and of high porosity, you could consider extra conditioning with Phillip Adam Conditioner for Thirsty Hair.
Start from the top
The key of washing hair properly is to apply the shampoo mainly to the roots. You want to lift the oils off of the scalp. Depending on which shampoo you use, you will be able to get an adequate lather and a squeaky-clean feeling even with sulfate free shampoos, although they generally tend to lather less. Towards the end of a shampooing process, you can drag the shampoo down to the ends, perhaps claw through the hair and rinse.
Use adequate amount of shampoo
It is a common misconception that the more shampoo you use, the more your hair will turn out clean. When it comes to washing your hair properly, more is less so make sure to keep this in mind when pouring shampoo into your hand – it should be no more than size of a coin or in Phillip Adam ACV Shampoo case, a size of a diameter of the bottle cap. For maximum results, apply the shampoo twice per one wash.
Be gentle
Don’t use force when shampooing your hair. It doesn’t have to be hard as you are not scrubbing your scalp. It is a sensitive area of your head and it can easily get injured especially if you scratch it with your fingernails. Instead always use tips of your fingers to gently massage the shampoo into your scalp, improve the blood circulation and bring it up to the surface. This will stimulate hair growth and make your hair look and feel healthy.
Rinse properly
It all ends with a rinse. You cannot over-rinse your hair so take as much time as you need, even if you are in a hurry, to thoroughly rinse out the shampoo residue and any dirt that has been left out in the washing process. One tip however, if your hair is dry and in need of extra hydration you don’t have to rinse out all of the conditioner- this apply to all-natural based, chemical free brands. Leave some of it to detangle and maintain moisture in your hair.
